In the Know: Medicaid Managed Care for People with Disabilities
According to a recent state-by-state survey, more than half of U.S. states are planning to increase the number of Medicaid beneficiaries enrolled in managed care plans in an attempt to slow the growth rate of federal-state spending and improve the quality and accessibility of services. Observing these trends in Medicaid policy and recognizing the profound impact they could have on future services to people with disabilities, the National Council on Disability (NCD) commissioned a wide-ranging study in order to gain a better understanding of the intricacies of Medicaid managed care practices and the ways in which these practices can and should affect services for program beneficiaries with disabilities.
