As National Financial Capability Month (NFCM) rolls on and we continue to highlight the importance of sound financial decision-making and its effects on one's overall financial health for consumers with disabilities, today we call to your attention World Institute on Disability’s (WID) Access to Assets program. At a time when approximately 20 percent of the United States' population lives with some level of disability, and people with disabilities are almost three times as likely to live in poverty than any other group, Access to Assets opens doors of opportunity for people with disabilities through the promotion of asset building and financial literacy strategies by helping them move toward great economic independence and advancement. The program provides training and technical assistance, outreach to the disability community, policy analysis, public education, and information and referral. Visit the website now.
